Hailing from the rural suburbs of New England, cutting his teeth on the edgy eclectic music scenes stretching between Boston Ma, and Providence RI, this virtual unknown melodic shred guitar player knew he was on the right track when he was awarded the coveted "Berklee Performance Scholarship" in 1991. After attending Berklee College of Music and studying with such renowned teachers as Jon Finn, Hal Crook and Mike Williams, Scott went on to pursue a record deal with his original rock/metal band TYKA. After releasing their self-titled 4 song EP and supporting their release with performances all throughout the New England area, it wasn't until 1994 that national ambitions darkened; the 'Seattle/Grunge Scene' had exploded onto the culture, and the music business had changed overnight. In 1996 Motyka released his instrumental EP entitled, "Local-motive"; the album was a self-produced instrumental effort containing 4 tracks ranging from Satriani-like melodic rock to Neo-classical metal to 70's fusion. In late 2008, over a decade later Scott released "Cut.. ...From Within.", a close to the heart, hard-hitting collection of instrumental rock bringing together melodic shred guitar, progressive rock, and metal elements. In 2009, Motyka re-emerges fighting the battle for your mind, one note at a time. With his latest release and supporting power trio on deck, he asks the faint of heart to listen with courage, for his musical message, just may be.. ...the sound of everything you believe, becoming a lie.
